The scooter in the video was a working prototype. Please go to our produc/shop page to view the current version of eFOLDi.
EFOLDi is the creation of my father, who was the chief engineer for the Chinese Acrobatic Circus before he retired. He’s spent his life helping others to defy gravity and solving other problem like it. As project manger I should probably mention that I have engineering experience too.

Performance on ascent will always depend a little on weight and the gradient of the hill. However on a full charge and carrying the appropriate weight, eFOLDi should be able to cope with low to moderate slopes and is easily folded back into trolley mode should you ever come across a hill that’s just too steep.
Although we’ve tested the bike up to 150kg and it works admirably, eFOLDi is officially designed to carry maximum weight of 100kg. Therefore, for legal purpose, our manufacturer guarantee will not cover damages caused by carrying over 100kg.
EFOLDi is designed to fold away into the smallest piece possible, with an impressive ground clearance of 0.12m2.
Front wheel is 12 inch and rear wheels are 10 inch, providing extra comforts of riding.
The eFOLDi without a battery weighs approximately 19kg.
eFOLDi is designed to be practical, so we use commonly found parts wherever possible. We are of course happy to help you source everything from a new battery to spare wheels and we aim to keep the price as low as possible.
We offer two different batteries:
AirSafe battery pack is allowed for air travel, weighs 1.1kg including box, and can travel up to 7km on full charge.
FarReach battery pack is designed for long range, weighs 2.6kg including box, and travel up to 22km on a full charge.
–Actual travel distance varies depending on road surface, gradient and weight of user.
We’re working on a few different models to make sure eFOLDi is safe and fun to ride. We have found in the past that the lightweight frame and the high powered motor enabled eFOLDi to travel at an impressive 20 MPH (i.e.32km/h), but we have to limit it to max 8mph/12kph.
Yes. eFOLDi is designed with 3 different max speeds: 4MPH (i.e. 6.5 km/h), 8MPH (i.e. 13km/h), and 12.5MPH (i.e. 20km/h), suiting different needs.
There isn’t a locking mechanism, as we consider being folded to a trolley, eFOLDi can be easily taken to anywhere you go with you. No need to worry about it being stolen unattended at all!
Most civil authorities have some laws or guidelines regarding the use of electric vehicles and we would urge you to check with them as to what those restrictions are. Also please be aware that these types of regulations change frequently.
Yes. We understand how important to protect you, especially after you have come the long way to help us bring eFOLDi to life! Therefore, we’ll offer 12 months manufacturer warranty for all design defects.
Your Safety is our, and should be your, biggest concern, so while you may not be legally required to wear a helmet we thoroughly recommend that you do whenever you’re riding eFOLDi.
eFOLDi is invented because the inventor broke his leg, and so designed with mobility use in mind. In the UK, eFOLDi is perfectly legal to be used as TYPE 2 scooter on the pavement with max speed of 4 MPH, and as TYPE 3 scooter on the road with max speed of 8 MPH. Most civil authorities have some laws or guidelines regarding the use of mobility scooter and please check what those restrictions are in your own country.

EFOLDi was designed with practicality at its heart. The inventor used his 49 years of experience and knowledge of acrobatics and engineering to make it lightweight, but very strong. The reduced weight means less material usage, and in return reduced cost. However, on the other hand, light weight and long range also place extremely high bar on efficient motor performance and supreme battery, which both come at extraordinary high production cost. Good news is we are confident that, the manufacturing cost will be reduced when quantity increases, which in return reduces the price further.
